a bit of advice from MY experience as a company driver for TA back in '03-04. I already posted this but this is a new thread about TA.

Make copies of EVERY peace of paper that goes through your hands! If it means money copy it! Get a scanner for your computer and at the end of each day scan everything in under your trip number or however you want! In my year there I can not tell you how many times a BOL "wasn't in the trip pack" or a high dollar receipt "got lost" or trip packs that just disappeared! Or pay the $.25 and copy them.

Go over your pay stubs carefully every week! I don't know if you can view them on line now but if so as soon as they are posted check them and then do what you have to do! I don't work for free and when ANY company shorts a trip that's the same as working for free! Get their (payroll's) email address so you can email them the missing paperwork unless you can get them to pay for the fax or extra trip pack charges and then demand a com check for what they shorted you !
    Good Luck

Rollover is correct about the paperwork Course things are much easier now since they've started using Transflo. Just send it in and you get to keep the copies along with the reciept showing that it was recieved.

Larz, they will probably only hire you if you go lease for them since your an experienced driver. Good luck with that. L/O's in this company, well some have it good and some don't. If you aren't getting the miles, you'll probably have to have a chat with your DM and their boss. Keep going up the line if you have to. Be proffessional about it at all times.

    Good luck

Yes sir, they do seem to have the miles. Its just getting them. See the above post. My miles the last time out sucked badly but then again, 6 days of that was spent in a motel.

I came out last Monday, drove 5 hrs, then sat at a meat plant long enough to do a reset. Once I left the meat plant tho, have been doing ok. My 1st load was a 3 dropper with the last drop in Joliet. Picked up in Chicago, took it to Vermont and am now picking up in PA going to Ft worth.

On the other hand, be prepared to be micro mananged, badly. The owner may have been a driver but now the company is run by a bean counter. You have to get authorization for everything now. Lumpers, washouts, scales, etc...... God forbid you pick up a temp load that is not set to what "they" think it should be cause then you'll have to stop and fax the BOL into them since we as drivers cannot be trusted to read a BOL.

So there you, both sides of the coin.

Ask OOIDA about the lease (rental/sub lease) and when they finish ROFLTFAO you will have your answer about the fleece at TransAm!

I still talk to a few of the trainers over there. No one is getting these mythical miles. And the lease guy hasn't made a positive paycheck in 3 weeks.

Last year I went to Trans Am because they had the fewest bad things said about them. I couldn't find much about them at all. I put it all in this thread:

My 16 Week Experience with TRANSAM

I did everything right and still got screwed. I delivered and picked up every load on time, had no accidents, sent in quallcom messages when I was supposed to. Got lousy miles. It does not matter what you do; some people will have a good experience and some will not. The company does not care what happens to you; there will be 100 others to take your place. You are expendable and are hired to be exploited. It is not personal. In fact, it is so impersonal that you don't know who to ask for a kiss.
All in all, I guess TransAm is not the worst company to start with, but you will need another source of income if you have a family or are not already homeless.
