My flight is scheduled tomorrow from California to Texas for orientation. But yesterday I was involved in a car accident where I was rear ended badly. Car was totaled. And I was hit by an electrical company truck. Went to the hospital and sustained minimal injuries. I planned on continuing to go to the orientation tomorrow but now I'm having second thoughts because I haven't been able to talk to lawyers or my insurance company since it's the weekend.
My flight is scheduled for tomorrow which is Sunday. Orientation is on Monday.

I'm planning on hopefully contacting someone from schneider and rescheduling the orientation for next week atleast. But I haven't been able to reach anyone since it's the weekend.

In the case that I can't reach anyone tomorrow and I miss my flight, is it likely I will get my job offer rejected or terminated?

I doubt very much that you will be fired. Just call them and explain what happened. Im sure they will be understanding. It's not like you didnt show up.

Schneider runs a 24/7/365 operation. Call and talk to SOMEONE and explain the situation. SEND AN EMAIL also. Paper trail! KEEP ALL OF THE DOCUMENTATION of the accident, hospital, etc.

An electrical company truck? Woah, you sure your neck isn't stiff? All kidding aside I think when you do get through to someone at Schneider and explain your situation I'm sure they'll work with you.

I used to run for Schneider, both dry van & (later) intermodal.

Your recruiter, if he/she is worth his/her salt at all, should be more than understanding of your circumstances.

As suggested above--call/email your recruiter, and explain the situation.

I had something similar happen when I started with "The Big Orange"...and my recruiter gladly rescheduled my orientation start date for a few weeks later.

If you can't reach anybody until Monday morning, it's okay.

Call and email as soon as you can.

get a lawyer and have them represent you for the accident against the company for the losses you will have.

Minimal injuries and first thing he's thinking about is a lawyer. This is what's wrong with this situation.

You don't need a lawyer for a minor accident and you don't need to stay home to talk to your insurance company. Get on the plane and stop thinking about how much money you can get from the electric company.

Agree with forgetting the lawyer, not getting on the plane. Gonna need to get checked out by a real doctor, not a weekend one

I don't think you understand the accident was not minor it was major. It was 3 car accident. Traffic was stopped and the company truck hit us coming full speed around 80 miles an hour. Totaled two cars complete. I was the car in the front. The guy in the car behind me is probably paralyzed. My car completely smashed and Totaled. Still in the tow yard being charged 400 dollars a day. I'm out of a car right now and i just took a leave from my main job to go to orientation. I don't think i can focus on orientation while making and taking all these calls at the same time.
