The accounting class is a single part of the program I am in. I am attending college for entrepreneurship. The degree covers the basics of starting/owning a small business. It has been my dream since I was a kid to drive trucks and eventually own my own couple of trucks. The goal is to get some experience in the industry (already started, have a part-time job driving a mixer), start out as an O/O, and if all goes to plan, hopefully grow from there.
Any O/O's Available For a Virtual Interview?

My only advice to you is wait till the market crashes. This way you will have better deals.
Don’t do anything with payments.
start with Power only and work your way up.
if you can survive when there’s a drought you will survive when it rains.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
If you do well in accounting, get a degree in accounting, become a cpa and then get on the road to see what it is like … this industry is run by accountants and needs more for the owner operator/small fleet operators.Atlanta trucker, shooter19802003 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I’m currently booked on interviews through the end of the year. That’s my stab at humor. I must have interviewed hundreds of O/Os in 4 yrs Driving T/T before I bought my first Truck. Accounting will help a lot in this Business. Lots of big numbers to play with. It’s easy to look at the good numbers, and hard to look at the bad. Probably the main reason of failure in any Business. The numbers don’t lie. So many different Operations and stories, 4-5 short interviews might be better. Maybe 2 former O/Os explaining why they quit. At least a short explanation of the difference Types of Trucking, focusing on your particular choice. Good Luck.

...if he is really into trucking - best way to hear most of the people who failed and determine if you are any different than them . Successful people wont share their secrets anyway . If you have entrepreneur mindset - you should be fine no matter what market or life throws at you .
...not to discourage thread starter -
There’s a guy on YouTube who is an accountant that started a trucking biz , and they are very informative videos .
if you like accounting , I’d say try to get into the niche of “property accountant “
dealing with large commercial buildings and properties , the leases and budgets and taxes etc .
There is currently big demand for them .
I know a couple of property accountants and they are making very good salary’s .
Otherwise I’d suggest getting a degree in something useful , in a STEM field .
the company I work for is always hiring geologists and scientists and engineers .
Not hiring any history or art majors though .feldsforever Thanks this.
