Which means nothing. We have to import more than we produce as our refineries can't use the sour crude (high sulphur content) that is found in most of the United States. Essentially we export nearly everything to other countries, while paying countries that hate us for oil they can only produce while we keep their oilfields stable.

Parked in beautiful Billings, MT had fun going across the hills and the valleys of Montana today. Of course it was better once we got East of Superior. The east side of Lookout took a beating compared to the west side.

Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico region produces a light sweet crude. The high sulfur oil comes from outside of this area and Canada and Venezuela.

Fun fact Venezuela oil is so thick and full of sulfur it has to be mixed with WTI to process it into fuel products. Those Commie ######## need us more then we need them.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) can refer to a grade or a mix of crude oil, and/or the spot price, the futures price, or the assessed price for that oil; colloquially WTI usually refers to the price of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) WTI Crude Oil futures contract or the contract itself. The WTI oil grade is also known as Texas light sweet, although oil produced from any location can be considered WTI if the oil meets required qualifications. Spot and futures prices of WTI are used as a benchmark in oil pricing. This grade is described as light crude oil because of its relatively low density, and sweet because of its low sulfur content.

    Right.

My sister had the tv remote, and stopped on that show for about 5 minutes.
I thought it must be called Trannyette, but no, the Bachelorette. I call BS on that name. That was just homely, be it either sex.

    Missed opportunity.

That would have been funnier if you had asked 'What the nephew do do'.

That’s right. They use a catalytic converter to crack the molecules when refining oil. Starting with premium oils, it gets cracked over and over. Each time leaving less quality of oil. Final process Of cracking the molecules leaves gasoline. My Step Father ran a Cat cracked at Shell, the last 5 yrs he worked. I can’t begin to explain the process. But he explained it to me. Starts with fluffing the oil with additives. Adding to the actual volume of the oil. 1 55 gal barrel becomes 56, or?? Whatever. That’s my rough understanding. Light sweet crude from the gulf or Ohio, Pa. or ?? in the US is the best oil. So many things are made from oil, including rubber and plastic, even if gasoline were to become obsolete, the oil refineries will still be running. they’re not going anywhere.

When your in the oil business you do love a good Crack Spread! The process is like a giant still as the molecules float up into particular distillates it "cracks" into different petroleum products. It is crazy that you get larger amount of products then the barrel you started with.
