Overdrive will do the job. Keep the rest for low end power and city driving. Plus you can smoke the tires easier. Chicks dig that!!

1 great thing about holiday trucking. All the spots are available at the truckstop. Think there are 20ish trucks at the J here in Limon.

Lol, I can’t chance needing a tow truck. They have 3 big ones across the street. One was running lights on. Probably thought he had a job. I jacked it back around. Almost had to have my wife watch traffic, while on the phones, and blindside our onto the road. Wouldn’t be the first time. I get into a lot of tight jams with this Truck. I don’t let it keep me from going anywhere. Always barely make it. Lol.

if you read the entire story - it points out that Landstar settled out of court for $50 million and one of the 2 pilots settled for $1 million. The other pilot went to trial and lost. The judgement is against the pilot and obviously will never be paid.

pilot cars have no actual power to command anything - some states allow them to do traffic control if they are certified (Texas being one of them).

I have no idea what went wrong and the story also has no details of other than it was a 16 wide load on a “bridge”.

    so everything is speculation

based on that the front pilot should have stopped traffic by parking and getting out of their car with a stop sign. The truck should not have traveled onto the bridge until receiving confirmation that the traffic was in fact stopped.

is this always done - no it is not. The traveling public loses the their mind if you do it correctly - and the biggest offenders are other trucks that are in a “hurry” and can’t be delayed by even 2 minutes.

the front pilot likely was holding a flag or stop out the window of their car and trying to push oncoming traffic to the shoulder.

as the driver - once you get on the bridge it’s all over.

this is world that I operate in and there are unbelievable risks involved. It takes experience and judgement to move these loads - not everyone can or should but hey they were $10k cheaper….
