Hi guys
I have a 2021 VNL 860 with a volvo motor auto transmission. It has 150k miles on it. I wanted to know whether these new trucks do regen over the road ? Because mine does not or if it does there is no message on the display like my old 2014 volvo. The display says regen not required when I tried a parked regen.
Second issue is I hear an actual sharp whistling sound under the hood when I speed up. Only lasts for a few seconds. Coincidence is the turbo boost reads around 10-20 when it happenes. Is it turbo or belts ?
No regen over the road

If it's doing a rolling regen right you'll get no lights....
The only time you'll get a light (high exhaust temp) is if you stop when it's doing it... -
18 and newer trucks got really good at it. You can't even see/feel a regen while you are driving. If you stop the engine and fire back up later, it will start again 'till finish.Knucklehead Thanks this.

I had one a few weeks ago with a sharp whistle under boost. It was a misaligned clamp at the CAC inlet. A new o-ring and clamp fixed it. Check all your inlet hoses and clamps. It may be hard to find without a smoke machine or pressure testing the intake and using soap and water. It's hard to create that kind of boost while stationary.

the whistle noise most likely is a boost leak as far as regen goes with newer truck nothing to worry about unless they start asking for it constantly with all the passive regens going on now days should not be an issue.
