Twenty years ago, had a USAF Colonel transfer from U.K. to Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs, before he left U.K. he bought a U.S. spec Volvo sedan, it was loaded in the container to be shipped here. The dealer received the car, inspected it, did the pre-delivery, let him drive it for 20 miles, they left the factory shipping protection on the car, it was loaded in the container and shipped. When it arrived, Herr Colonel was on the Movers dock when I bumped it, one of the office girls in a summer dress was carried into the container and deposited in the car via the open drivers window to work the brake while it was pushed out the container by hand, it was then loaded to a rollback and taken to the Volvo dealer in the Springs for U.S. final delivery inspection. Herr Colonel and the Mover lead went over that car with a fine tooth comb before the rollback departed, and matched it to the inspection sheet from when it was loaded.

Nice to know someone whos moved more times than I have lol - Only did one long distance move, this last one from Texas to Missouri. Hired two dudes to load all my junk in a uhaul, best money I ever spent, loaded my truck up on a trailer and hit the road. Unloaded it all myself. Legs hurt for a couple weeks after lol -

[IMG] large.png This thing. This thing is the only thing in HHG worse than packing collectible ceramic angel figurines. I would rather take a baby grand up steps than have to fill this out, any day.

It has such a deceptively simple appearance, too.

I asked my manager today about how to inventory faster. He said that with time I'll be able to glance at furniture and write it down.

I believe that to some extent, but it also makes me suspicious that most drivers are probably just cutting corners and making stuff up.

Seems to me that GoPro footage would be more exact, thorough, and 10x as fast. I don't make the rules, though. I just get in the trucks.

Anyway, tomorrow I'll begin to load 22,000 so hopefully I'll be able to get some good photos to share more of what bedbugging is all about.

22k may not sound like much weight if you're in the general freight world but in HHG that is generally considered a full truck.

This truck is as terrible as it is ugly! Company driver woes.

IMG_20211130_081654.jpg Single axle is nice for residential, just wish it wasn't this one lol.

15 whopping pages of jotting down this alien code. I repeat, worse than packing ceramic angel figurines!

Didn't get around to the actual moving today, but packing and inventory are done now so the real fun kicks off tomorrow.

Evolution of first few tiers from today. As you can see most items are here, so this is the easiest part.

I was a picky packer when I did it , I always had instructions for the type of items I wanted and in what order . Give me a couple pieces of base and than boxes and mud and mix of smaller items . Get those first couple of tiers going than start playing tetris with couches and other fun pieces. I worked with locals that packed sideways and used little padding , some of them were good but most really had no proper teaching of mover education. Glad to see some have an idea what needs to be done . Good job

Some more shots from the 22k load. All this goes into the warehouse for storage, basically my trial run before this agent sends me on interstates.

Ah, the satisfying sound of crickets from the "Professional movers don't exist", "Anyone can load a truck", "Your industry is all criminals" crowd at the beginning of this thread.
