i have 2 questions really....
1. ok, so i usually get the green lite on my prepass at this weigh station, knoxville eb, but this time through i got the red, 79,220 i guess will do that...
anyway, i run through here 2 or 3 times a week, and i have noticed this big truck right next to the coop, parked right with their THP cars, and could never understand why it was there. i just figured they scored something big and seized the truck from someone, but yesterday as i crossed the scale, slowly and able to look at the truck its the same paint as the THP cars, has blue lights on the roof, and it says
STATE POLICE under the driver side door..... what the heck is that about??? i assume its for cracking down on 4wheelers cutting off trucks? and even other trucks for that matter??? but im puzzled about it
anybody know about this truck they have???
2nd question is how come the w.b coop is never open?? i mean never!, as i said i run that section of 40 2 or 3 times a week all different hours and its never open?
trucker myth iv heard is that the healt department shut it down?
it got struck by lightning?
its out of date and needs improving?
bulding inspectors shut it down due to age?
i could name a few more reasons iv heard thats its closed but u get my point... but im more intrested in the THP truck on the eb side...
knoxville, i-40 eb coop question

I know the truck you're talking about . I don't usually run that way but I saw it there a couple of weeks ago . I couldn't find anything on the web about it . I e-mailed an inquiry to the TSP and got no response .

rick i searched and searched and couldnt find anything either.... i dont really care what they use it for... but a big truck as state police is pretty darn cool if u ask me!! no supper trucker would expect to see that coming up behind them right hahaha

It would be nice if somebody headed through there and not pressed for time could stop and get a few pics to post and maybe get some info . That's a sharp looking truck . If I'm heading East of Knoxville on I-40 from KY I usually take the Cumberland Parkway off I-65 and take I-75 South to pick up I-40 East of Knoxville .

I used to run through there twice a week but no longer do. The WB coop was closed for a long time because of problems with the scale. Rumor was that a rookie had an overweight load set on it and kinda broke it
. But I can't say that to be fact. They opened it back up last year in the spring and were working it very hard for a couple months but then closed it back down and that was it. That's about the time I quit running down there all the time.

i guess thats something i could do.... but how do i go about doing that... do you think they would mind me stopping in to bother them to ask them questions about the truck? just walk in and ask them what its used for and if i could take pics??
and should i prepare for an inspection in return
iv never voluntelily walked into a coop before... -
I just went through there last night, but was in my car. I will be there again very soon and will see what I can do to get y'all some pics.

I'm going to venture a guess just for giggles. It is not used for parades. It was confiscated for doing a drug haul. Knoxville is a big "Hub" for drug distribution. I-75/I-40 jct. IF it was confiscated, there was no cost to taxpayers to buy it. And they would use it to "impound" a loaded trailer that was just busted for hauling drugs (the illegal kind). Trailer would be taken to the scale for security reasons and unloaded etc. And it would send a message to potential drivers that might be tempted to haul an extra "payload" of weed for some easy cash.

allow me, thats what i was thinking... hawlinswife, i hope ur able to get some pic... it will be easier for me not to volunteer for an inspection lol..not that i mind em.. its a timing issue....
