This topic included and aside, you cant argue ethics with someone who is unethical or reason with someone who is unreasonable.
We are just gonna continue to add pages to the topic saying the same thing :):):)

I wish the OP would've given us more details...his question was kinda open ended that could and did, have went any way.

T A in girad Ohio. Had me billed a crazy amount. I can't remember the figure. But I did get four new brakes and 2 new calipers on the drives. It came up to a little over 5200.
As I was getting ready to swipe the card. I asked them. The man that started the job said he was going to flat rate it vs per hour. Is that what was done? The lady told me to hold on a sec. She called the origanl tech at home to confirm it. And he did.
The knocked just under 900 off the bill.
I ended up paying about 4100. Oil change included in that bill. With the savings. I gave all the the techs 20.00 each. It took them about 11 hours to get that one caliper off. At first I thought they where trying to run the clock Untill I started watching the job get done.
So its my fault op. The 900 savings they gave me. They where trying to make back on you.

I'd check my invoice and pay if I thought it was an honest mistake. #### rolls downhill and I'm not about to hurt some random mechanic or cashier because they made a billing mistake.

As an owner of my truck? I’d own my own screw up and take the empty trailer back. If I had an employee that did that then my decision would be based on how they’ve performed in the past and if they’re a problem child or not.

So do you think the customer should pay any extra?

Why would I expect the customer to pay anything? I did not perform the job they wanted me to. That’s assuming I hooked the wrong trailer. If I hooked the correct trailer and the screw up was on their end then I would expect to be compensated.

Your scenario isn’t the same as what the OP is talking about. He knows what was done and what he paid for. And the fact he’s been on this forum and hasn’t been back to his thread makes me think he knows the original invoice was short on the labor hours.
