These DOT guys need a girlfriend or something.. Mississippi must have been running blitz or something. I entered MS on 98 weigh station open a 5:30 in the morning.. Pulls me in does a full paperwork and log inspection
About 3.5 hours later, while leaving MS by way of i20 I get the full level 1 at the weigh station leaving MS. I at least got a sticker for the windshield on the 2nd one.. The next day pulling into NM, they were about to give me another lvl 1 but I told the guy I just had 2 DOT inspections yesterday and pointed to the sticker so he let me go..
It's pretty #### ridiculous.. They let pice of crap semis with bald tires drive right by then harass us..
The only one I had worse was getting a LVL1 at the pumps of the Pilot in Tallahasse then 40 miles later they pulled me in for a 2nd lvl1 at the weigh station west of there but then let me go after I showed them the inspection I just had.
Honestly, I'm starting to think hotshot guys should get together for a class-action lawsuit against the FMCSA to sue against this kind of obvious harassment. The DOT agents are lazy ####s and we shouldn't be targeted because it's easier to inspect our trucks than a semi.. I honestly getting irritated at this ####.
I have a new truck, new trailer.. It's not like I'm driving something that looks like it shouldn't be on the road.. Meanwhile, I see these ####ed up port guys with trucks falling apart or the export car guys who tie 3 cars together and haul them to the ports. I see that #### all the time on i10.. ####ing some piece of crap car dragging 2 others cars with tow bars... Yet they drive right past the weigh stations....
Yet I get my time wasted 30 mins at a time 3 or 4 times a month...
I had my all time best Tues.. 2 inspections the same state...

Not sure how long you have been hot shot but............ welcome to hot shot. Its always been this way for hot shots. I started hot shot with a brand new truck & a nice used trailer. I got stopped more in a month that I did in 2 or 3 years in a big truck... always. Best I can tell you is, get used to it.
The reason? Cause so many people think starting out as an O/O in hot shot is easy & quick. Those are the ones who are inexperienced & are way more likely to be uninformed because of it. Like log trucks.... its easy pickings.
As for MS, coming from AL into Ms on 98, just get your check book out. If you're planning on leaving MS on I-20, just throw the check book on the dash cause you're gonna need it there too.
You can add, AR & Ks to that list. -
You got 2 clean inspections and want to file a class action lawsuit?
You have a clean record now, buy prepass and capitalize on it.alds, LoneRanger, Pamela1990 and 5 others Thank this. -
Start a class action lawsuit? LMFAO.
Get real!!!!
How do you know how many hot shots are getting inspected in comparison to big trucks?Pamela1990 and 4mer trucker Thank this. -

They aren't targeting us because we cause more accidents or whatever. I've straight up had them tell me they target us because "we are easy" to inspect. They prefer to hit hotshots & box trucks because they don't have to get on their hands and knees to look at air-lines and so on. It's a much easier inspection for them.. Meanwhile, they hold you up 30-45 mins..
For example, because I had 2 inspections on Tues I couldn't get through Dallas because losing that hour from two inspections put me right into rush hour. Meaning I had to stop well outside Dallas and lost drive time. It caused me to deliver my load on Friday instead of Thursday afternoon out in Cali. -
I’ve been pulled in with my gooseneck and really, it’s just time wasted as long as you keep your logs up and your trailer brakes adjusted and lights working. And in reality they’ll likely never check your trailer brakes to that extent.
Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
I've replaced the bulb 5 times in 60k miles on the passenger side and 2 times on the driver's side because the bulbs get jarred so much they break.
Last month I got hit for a bulb that was busted. The thing is I'm paranoid as I know this happens so I check my tail lights every time I stop the truck same as I check my securements. I had just filled up and checked everything.. 30 miles down the road I get pulled into a weigh station and given a level 1.
What do you know the bulb broke in that amount of time. The DOT guy then gave me a failed inspection because of that bulb but he hits me 3 times for the same bulb.. No tail light, no turn signal, no brake light.. I mean he's just being an ### at that point.. He easily could have hit me for just one, but he hit me on all 3 . It's the same bulb but now it makes it look like I had 3 lights out and it's 3 different hits on your rating.Last edited: Dec 11, 2021

I've only had 4 inspections on my Ram in a bit over 2 years. 2 where just paper checks and 2 lvl 1s. Didn't feel targeted.
I use drivewyze for like $17 a month and I get bypassed 98% of the time.alds and Pamela1990 Thank this.
