This is a personal matter if you want to switch the engine off to save on fuel, then by all means do so, I would image that some folks will agree with this idea and some will disagree bottom line is its your decision. I could never understand why some drivers needed to leave their trucks running all night long at a truck stop and would on most occasions switch mine off as I hate wasting energy. Yes of course if I was in a hot place like Phoenix AZ, or Mesquite NV, or somewhere cold like Boise ID, Wenatchee WA , however some places it is neither to hot nor too cold so why do I need to constantly run my air - con or heater? I would not worry to much about batteries as when you go on a longer run it will recharge. And stopping and starting should not do any harm as this was what the engine was designed to do, Idling for long periods of time is not what the engine was designed to do and if anything that is what can cause damage like glazing the cylinders, which eventually will make it use more oil as the engine wears out running at to low rpm's.

Lots of excellent reasons posted here regarding limiting idle time!
It's all good till you hit the key..............and.............CLICK,CLICK..............no start, call tow truck, no work today!
I wouldn't be shutting off and restarting every 10-15 minutes.

    YMMV

Cummins says if your going to idle, do it at 1200rpm. It's supposed to keep the temperature up. I don't know what engine you have. If you have the manual take a look.

You don't happen to remember what sub heading that would be under do ya? I've looked under different headings that I thought it would be under but haven't found it yet. I looked under section 10 and a couple others so far.

Or hopefully, your somewhere where you can get a jump or pull start. Also, you can get a large screwdriver and jump the terminals on the starter while someone holds the key on. Also typically they don't just stop working all of a sudden and never work again. Usually, it's a fail here and there and the frequency increases until it fails altogether while in the meantime you've had the sense to get it fixed. At least that's what I've experienced in the past. You see it coming in other words.

Not sure what I just did wrong there. Here is the page from my manual that reads keep it over 1000. I remember reading 1200, but that may have been elsewhere. Screenshot_20211211-180019_Drive.jpg
