I would go as far as necessary to help out a customer, so long as my company signed off on it. I'm certainly not going to be accused of ripping up some poor woman's carpet. I know there are old ladies like my mother out there, who want nothing more than to get over on someone for profit.

So this isn't my story, it's his. He specifically told her it was against company policy to bring the freight inside because we are liable for damages to the flooring. And based on her complaint, she cited our own company policy to get her carpet replaced.

Oh sure. I read that it wasn't your story. I'm just saying I wouldn't do like your coworker did and be a nice guy without getting express word from management. I am a terrible decisionmaker when I'm on the clock.

I do not enter the house, and if it looks like it can't be done without damage, then it won't be done. Otherwise...

I don’t set foot in houses. I don’t uncrate anything, but I will put something in the garage IF there’s room.

And I refuse to take pallets back. I’m not being slowed down by having someone else’s junk on my wagon that THEY didn’t feel like getting rid of to trip over the rest of the day.

What I’ll do for any customer....has always been based on their attitude....I’ve gone way above and beyond more times than I could possibly recall...while I’ve also offered to put a meat hook and chain on their freight...tie it to a pole...pull up and leave their s*%# in the middle of the street...courtesy begets courtesy

Gearjammin' Penguin, MACK E-6 and alds Thank this.

That’s ok. It’s been a chronic issue sitewide today.

I am on board with you and everyone else's opinion. But I did change my stance on pallets last year. For one, my company palletizes EVERYTHING. I had a 15 lbs delivery of air filters shrink wrapped to a 20 lbs pallet.

The other issue is this, and I am not trying to use hyperbole to make a point; but half of our forklift drivers are a bunch of Helen Keller's that destroy everything, so the more empty pallets I can bring back for the next day, the more it benefits us when we have to fix and repallletize stuff for the next shift.

I take back standard 40x48 pallets not those weird ones or those ugly arse 12ft cabinet pallets.

out bound always needs 4x4 skids
