I am a recent grad trying to weigh all of my options before I make a decision. I cannot decide between Western Express or Willis Shaw. I want to have the option to pull flatbed or van loads, so Western sounds good. I do plan on going flatbed with them though. I know Willis Shaw hauls food products so it seems that I would get miles. I am not worried about home time, because I am not married nor do I have kids. I just want to go with a company in which I will do as little sitting as possible. I will welcome any experiences from drivers or former drivers with both companies

Western Express hauls some freight for us...from what i have seen and witnessed their drivers are some of the dumbest out there...but the choice is yours

Lol, what is it that makes them so dumb? They must not be able to drive very well.

I went to school at Truck Driver Institute in Murfreesboro, you probably had the more comprehensive course. I say that because if I am not mistaken, it is longer than the 3 weeks mine was. Who are you going to work for?

Yep my course was longer and cheaper. $1400 and if you qualified through the WIA if was paid for by the government.

I had a prehire at Werner until we found out the state of TN screwed up my MVR. I have one conviction for 14 over the limit. Big mess hopefully fixed by this afternoon.

As a matter of fact I need to call and see if it has been changed.

If you are in Murfreesboro there is Huff and Puff. Sounds like you can make $50K there your first year. Just they have no paid vacation and might want you to fudge your HOS. They only hire within a 50 mile radius of Bradeyville.

I did qualify for WIA. I would have gone to TN Tech but those classes filled up by the time I had anticipated getting the grant. TDI is a pretty good school, it was very fast paced but informative. I had prehires from Covenant, Star (red one), and Western. Swift is willing to give me an orientation but it won't start til February. I don't think I can wait that long to start work lol. I may give Huff and Puff a call, though the jury is out on them. Ultimately I think I will end up choosing Western Express
