Loves tried putting a stop 15 minutes east of Flint a few years back. (In Davidson) In the news article Loves claimed it cost, on average, $750,000 before land is even bought to do all the studies the towns insist on before zoning the land for a truck stop.

Whoever does the research for locations needs a stern talkin' to. Loves bought land in a nearby town, Poncha Springs, Co. I don't think they told the locals, in come the dozers,,HEY,,WHAT'S GOING ON? They were up in arms, not next to our subdivision, you won't. The town board approved it, but locals wanted no part of it. Noise, fumes, light pollution, not to mention that ilk that frequents those places ( bringing in their freakin' strawberries) so it's at a standstill until a better place can be found. The area sorely needs a truckstop, as Poncha Springs is right on Hy. 50 & 285, well known truck routes. Typical Colorado, not in my backyard,,

I was told, an idling diesel will run cool, and acids and condensation build up in the oil. Much of it burns off when you do finally get going again and get it hot, but it can dilute the oil. Stepping the idle up to 900-1000 brings the oil pressure up, and the motor is actually "working", more so than at idle, and runs warmer.

For me, I prefer to fuel in the morning, during my pretrip. Not before I park for the night. And I’m about to idle all night in a 2019 Freight with a 1/4 tank.
