Sounds like they did him a favor. Now he has time to look for a job that actually pays the going rate.

It's a subreddit on the social network site Reddit. It's filled with communists and young people who desperately need therapy to work out issues with their parents. These people think they shouldn't have to work but money should just be given to them.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/

    About the Papa John's manager:
Part of being a manager is hiring employees. If you're not doing that effectively then you are creating the problem you're complaining about. If the franchise owner is incompetent, it didn't just happen yesterday. They have been there for 13 years before being fired, they were either intimately aware of the franchisees incompetence or, more likely, the franchisee isn't incompetent and there is more to this story.

r/antiwork is full of childishly naive complainers who are miserable people. Were they to get their dream of some disability check that precluded them from having to go to work ever again, they would still be unhappy. It's who they are.

You have to actually read the article. He wasn’t authorized to offer a wage or salary higher enough to attract and/or retain employees. He was also responsible for covering more than full-time hours without any additional pay, typically between 50 to 60 hours. At the time of his firing there was a medical obligation he had to go to.

While true, his management would not allow him to offer the going rate. He was so short handed it sounds like there was a whole 2 employees, the manager and the other guy who also had a dr. appointment.

Can't hire employees if every other company is offering more money.....

I would also imagine that the cost of living is high where this occurred.
