I recently was not paid by Convoy for 45 min of detention time.

It took me a month of emails and phone calls and they finally paid me.

I've only lost about 50$ of detention time over the last year because I'm the most persistent person you will ever meet when it comes to being paid for my time.

    Absolutely relentless.

In all honesty, forget about it, not worth your time arguing about it. You gave the 3 hours. If it was 7-10 hours I could see that but arguing 45min over your 2hrs is almost pointless. Live N learn

I don't know who came up with the "industry standard" of 2 hours free but I've seen alot of brokers pushing 3 hours before detention even kicks in. Fortunately I've done pretty good without waiting around.

I understand. I expect to be paid for my time.

I'm a little too relentless. I can't help it because whats right is right.

    Anyway, ty.

Anything over 1 hour is detention for me. My rates are $110 / hour ( that’s on the low side )

I've had a couple scumbags try to not pay my detention rate even though they agreed to do so in writing and I invoiced in a timely manner. Every time this happened I filed a claim against their surety bond and was paid within days.

"How to get brokers to ACTUALLY PAY DETENTION"

Kidnap their children, and then, only maybe.

Honestly they are slippery snakes. They all find a way out of it. Use their app, then write on the BOL, then get it tattooed on your face, sorry but it needed to be under the left eye, not the right eye, and now we are not paying.
The ones that do pay detention, get more help from me. They can get me to deadhead a bit more, and take less desirable loads because I know they will not screw me on the back end.
I don't even pull jb hunt anymore, they always want to screw you on detention, layover.

I agree. Our driver did 3 van loads and was held up over 8 hours loading on one
and over 9 hours on another load. The brokers say that they need the BOL in order
to make a REQUEST of the customer to pay the detention. Why isn't federal law
requiring brokers to BILL the shippers and receivers and pay the carrier/drivers without
a hassle? Does the federal govt. want to help the supply shortage or not and keep
    the drivers we have???

Why do you need the government to control someone else's business simply because you can't run your own?
