Try not to park in the travel centers. If I have to I find a back row and nose first.
I to have been hit numerous times in 30+ years. I park in travel centers long enough during the day usually hole in the wall mom and pops for shower and fuel and leave. I spend maybe a dozen night a year in one. I find industrial parks or customers. Loves and pilot are on the list to never stop at.
Hit once again while parked in a reserved parking spot

The other advantage to parking next to someone or between two trucks - odds are at least one of them will have left before you in the morning making your egress easier.

Hmmm... White's. I've never reserved a space there for the reason that follows, and I'm a frequent flyer in the TA/Petro pay spaces. When I roll in, it's usually midnight thirty and usually there's a space open in the back 40. Somewhere. Worst comes to worse, I'll create a space and then be that guy sitting out in the field alone a few hours after sunrise. Don't care. It's safer than their reserved spots, even when parking in the aisle behind a row of trucks that will leave going the other way.
Also, the later in the morning I get in there, the more likely some hard charging solar powered driver has already vacated a primo free spot. Odds of that typically improve after about 0300.
ETA: Seems counter-intuitive, but I do my best backing when fatigued. I can pull into the ugliest Pilot, wiped out from a hard drive, and put it in the worst spot like a Boss with a capital B. Right in there, perfectly centered, one shot. In contrast, middle of the day pick a spot in a whole empty row to stop for an hour and make a sandwich, and I'm all over the lines.
However, the OP's location (White's) defies that rule. All the front spaces are straight back and tighter than the worst Pilot I've ever been unfortunate to visit accidentally. The ones in the back are all blind-side angle just past the scale, with nearly zero maneuvering room in front except for a few. And those are already taken by those who can't back, who paid $20 for a reserved space at 3pm in a lot with 800 free spots.
I can think of a couple more. The TA in Commerce GA for example. Front row, all blind side, and 2/3 of them are up against the sidewalk in front of the building. TA in Harrisburg PA has about half a dozen in day cab only configurations, which are usually the only ones left at midnight with 10 of those stupid signs piled up in them from all the early birds. Seems they've done away with those signs sometime in the past 2 yrs that I wasn't driving regular, so that's a good thing.Last edited: Dec 22, 2021

They probably had 15 premium spots open. All together too.

This is why I park for the night on the fuel island...doesn't seem to bother anyone.
