When 1bad was reg OTR he was out for long periods longest being almost 2 months. Now he is on Kraft dedicated and he is home sometimes once aweek for a 10 hr brk but usually every other week. If you are looking to make decent money you can't go home every other week for very long. Remember when you are driving you aren't making any money! If we had 5 kids 1bad would most likely stay out at least 3 weeks in a strecth. On the Kraft fleet he usually runs atlanta to SC or NC then to Chicago down to Ft Worth and back. But you have to run reg OTR for 6 six months before you can even apply for a dedicated fleet. So the 1st 6 months will be the hardest and longest time away from family. I'm not sure what dedicated fleets hire out of TN 1bad may be able to answer that one for you when he gets home this afternoon. I am sure he will be on here and catching up he will post to that issue if he knows. Good luck in what ever you decide to do!

Thank You! -
that's what I kinda thought. I'll do what it takes I worked out of state with the company that I'm currently laid off from and will be for some time. but I was only able to come home every 3wks for 4 days. so being gone 3 wks or so wont be so bad it will make the time go by faster. Thanks for the info and be safe.

Just spoke with my recruiter yesterday he said I will be going either Jan 18th or the 25th. Didn't say where but I know I cannot wait to get started. I have been thinking about going into the trucking industry for a long time but wasn't sure where to go until I came across this thread. Thanks to everyone who posted positive and negative things about Central... it seemed to me tha when your starting out you have to decide for yourself what the lessor of the evils to take is. Considering some of the posts I have read about Werner and USA Truck I'll take Central Refrigerated
.
Also I will take with me a lot of the advice I have read in these threads. Don't sign the lease to purchase contract it isn't worth it and of course work hard. -
Hello all, I have been with my trainer for the past week now. I had a very bad experience in Yuma, Az on my very first day. I was trying to scale out and I was to close to the left and I over corrected to prevent damage to the trailer and ran the tractor off to the left side of the scale. Had to call a wrecker out to get us out and now the alignment is off on the steering wheel. I thought I was fired for sure, being my first day and all. I am waiting to see what the outcome will be, suppose to know some time tomorrow. I hope I am not left stranded in Colorado if I am terminated. I will post pictures later, I felt like 2 inches tall. But my trainer was really cool about it. I was worried because he is a lease operator and I thought I was gona be burried somewhere in the AZ dessert. Well I update you later on my situation.

My husband drove for Central (very short time) when he returned to trucking. This happened in mid 08 and he had high hopes. The miles were good but the pay sucked. he knew how to drive because he had driven before. Because it had been a long time he had to start over. He was assigned a trainer and the trainer was such a jerk that my husband packed his gear and walked away.
The company paid for a bus (which was great of them) to get him to a terminal and get with another trainer. Once my husband was through with training and he was driving solo his checks actually decreased. We were shocked. He was getting mileage but making less as a solo driver than he was as a trainee. Go figure. -
Always double check your paycheck stubs. Trips, parts of trips, DH miles seem to disappear. My payroll clerk swears it's the payroll software or something, a quick call or Qualcomm message usually has it cleared up within a day.
Miles have been a bit worse during winter but I'm still doing ok out here for a lowly company driver. -
Widow good luck with the interview. Hope you get the job.
