I'm retired now but the one goal I had that helped me through 42 years in the trucking industry was to be flexible and adjust to changes.

Every day, at the end of the day, review what I've done and what I could have done better. Next time out, I should be a better driver.

My goal each day is simple.
Complete my trip safely and try not to get hit by the unskilled labor we share the road with..
    Fingers crossed xx

I drove as a professional and when crap happened ,all my ducks were all in a row.

goal was to survive until i got home to the family and rest up to do it all over again.

I actually enjoyed all, (well most), of those millions of miles.

My overall goal is to purchase a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia DD15 but not until June 2022 because I'm waiting for my 2nd house to be finished in May of 2022. I'm also watching the Stock market, Housing market & Global Supply Chain because of my investments & current job income. Becoming an Owner Operator with my own Authority in 2022 is my goal. However, after watching the current Inflation rate increases of 6% plus I'm trying to gauge my best financial situation for my future endeavors.

If you want a truck next summer, you may wish to order it now. They take a while from order to delivery.
For example a Kenworth T800 is about 7 or 8 month wait.

You're absolutely right however after speaking to a local dealer my money would have to be tied up ($40k deposit). So I'm planning on waiting even if the worse case scenario occurs that I have only obtain a 1 year older Freightliner Cascadia with a few hundred thousand miles on it. When realizing there's a global supply shortage of sensors for vehicles including semi trucks I need to have patience. The balance of rates because of the rise with inflation that I noticed isn't balancing out.

Example: 2022 Freightliner Cascadia |NO WAITING| FULL SERVICE MAINTENANCE AVAILABLE - Mississauga I remember looking at the same Truck payment being $1395 (every 2 weeks) now it's $3995? That's way to much but of course Supply & Demand is dominant in any market even trucking. I love trucking but can't take my management anymore which is something I've been pondering since 2018 on leaving. However, working for a Unionized company for 20 years isn't something I would just leave if they had respectable non ignorant Management, Clerical staff etc. Some of the things I heard or told to do on a daily basis is beyond ludicrous. So, once my other house closes I will make my move in hopes that even a Truck that cost $200k in Oct. 2021 now costing $220k or even more!

The World is chaotic right now!

Get a better job. For me that's either making more money, r being home more, or both. At times my goal was to get a job/route that kept me away from cities or be home in bed before the sun came up. I would sell crack in a leper colony before I EVER see one more reefer load or reefer customer. I'm never ever paying some drug addict to load/unload freight and wait all day & night until he does it.
