One of my sisters did that DNA thing several years ago. I'm going 100% by memory, seems that I am about 3/4 western European and about 1/4 native American. I know most of my family was from England and Ireland. My maternal Grandmother was a Cherokee Indian. Oh, one of my cousins has been doing a lot of research going back to the 18th and 19th century working with someone she knows in the UK. According to her My father's maternal grandmother came from the same family tree John Wilkes Booth came from. This has NOT been confirmed last I heard. And no I don't have any urges to visit Ford's Theatre!

No, he stayed there. I still have cousins there.

When my father’s tour was up in ‘59 he would’ve re-enlisted if Uncle Sam would’ve kept him there, but they had other plans. His CO told him his next stop was going to be French Indo-China. So Dad came home, and brought Mom over a year later.

Ancestry? It's complicated. My two older brothers and two younger sisters and I were all born in China during and just after WW2. My Dad had taken a job flying with Claire Chennault who'd started Civil Air Transport and in the meantime helped to rebuild China's civil aviation systems.
Dad and Mom met in China. She'd come over from the States to teach English in the local schools.
None of us are Chinese but we spoke Chinese at home for many years. After we moved back to the States in the late fifties we gradually went back to speaking English. My oldest brother likes to cuss in Chinese. You can say some really vile things and get away with it.
My Dad was full blood American Indian and Mom was half African American and half Irish. That makes me half American Indian, one quarter African American, and one quarter Irish.
The Irish part is the one that's always caused the most problems.
I married a Chinese American and we were together for over fifty years. She passed away almost two years ago but we had five fine children, most of whom...luckily enough...resemble her.

50 years is quite the accomplishment. I’m sorry to hear of your loss.
