Will a winterfront help? We got one it's helped alot. It's been cold in ft worth forgot what the temps where but my dad said there was oil sputtering from the blow by tube. He thought it was done for then and there he called paco (CAT wrench) told him get a winterfront helped alot. The thing only cost about 40 but it was a special order took a week or two to get to kenworth. Might be easier to find on for your hubbys truck bhw.

I made a full winterfront for the truck. And he's had it on for the last week.
The new thermostats are in, and he's running again, but the truck hasn't warmed up yet. He will get loaded and go right back by the place that replaced them, so by the time that he is loaded, we should know if the T-stats were the issue or not. -
I came from down South before the Holidays, last fuel stop for me was in Oklahoma. Now that I think about it, I doubt it's even blended. I put some treatment in there but I'm sure the lines are gelled. Not even going to try and start again until Sunday when it's supposed to hit 21 degrees. If I'm not mistaken, I live about 50 or so miles East of Bullhaulerswife, so she knows all too well the weather we're dealing with. 3-5 inches more of snow tomorrow with a high of 0. I think our normal high is around 31 or so.

Hubby had a hard time starting his truck monday. We used a heater to heat all the lines up, but it took about 5 hours to get it all thawed out. AND he had treated the diesel. Its just been #### cold around here. He's heading east of you now, and stayed north east of you last night, where it really got cold.
You better get some additive in those tanks, gears. You don't need the issues we've been having here. LOLGears Thanks this. -

I would never add gasoline to a diesel engine. (on purpose)
I am sure you would not find a mechanic that would support that idea. -

I agree with you completely...I'm not sure about the injectors in the big rigs, but I can tell you that in the light duty trucks you are asking for an expensive problem by adding gasoline to a diesel engine.
I personally would only use additives that are approved for your particular application.Gears and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -

Wifey did to my '02 Powerstroke. Filled the truck up with the green handle, only it was premium at that station. Then drove it about 150 miles calling me and saying it had no power. Still don't know how or why that engine held together.

Because gasoline isn't hot enough to fire in a diesel engine. The compression isn't enough to ignite it in the chamber, so it just dies.
Common misconception that gas is this explosive fuel and diesel is a slow burning not so explosive fuel. I learned about this when I was just a kid. We always used diesel to start the woodstove, and one day I started a fire when there was still a few coals in there. Little word of advice, if the white smoke starts pouring out of the stove, don't put your face in front of the door when you light it off.
