I got into the industry through the LTL company I currently work for. Trying to do the same thing Hank did and get into fuel hauling. 1 year experience will be up in May. Think I might start applying to see what happens. Already have a job offer from the TM at the Estes terminal down the street as soon as I hit a year experience but I’ve always wanted to do fuel hauling. As good as LTL is, it gets frustrating….

I think you have the right idea. A lot of finding a good tanker job when you're short on actual experience is simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
The really good outfits never advertise for drivers. They don't have to. It's up to you to make the contacts you'll need to get your foot in the door.
Tanker companies are no different than any other kind of trucking in that they're always on the lookout for talent.
A rookie with a good attitude is sometimes preferable to a driver that's had two or three tanker jobs and hasn't lasted.

I was offered a job at several of the better local outfits in my area with ZERO tanker experience and maybe a month driving experience overall.

    Shoot your shot.

I just talked to one of their recruiter, and they do require a one year experience.

Looks like I have a chance to do wethose for sc fuels here in so cal. Close to home and figure it counts as fuel hauling experience even though it’s a class B truck. Maybe after a year of that ill have two years of clean class A driving record with fuel experience and can get on to some of the better companies and get back to the tractor trailer. They want you to do 2 years of wethose before you can transfer to that.

Move quickly the hell along. Class B work doesn’t usually count towards Class A work. Keep humping, call KAG.

KAG said I need 1 year. Sawyer petroleum/Dion and sons says they don’t have anything but he would reach out as soon as something by does. Says less than a year could be worked out.

Search Fuel Transport Driver in cities in your area…there’s a boatload. Put together an Indeed resume and apply to all. Someone will call.

SC fuels also has semi’s and truck and trailers, so the option would come along at some point. They have really nice equipment. Some of the nicest around. Idk much about them, but they seem decent

That's interesting, I had many years of tractor/trailer experience, but no fuel or tanker experience, and KAG put me on. 2 weeks of training and I was on my own. I was pretty nervous about them, after reading some reviews, but I'm pretty happy, and no place is perfect.
I applied to a couple locals, and was actually trying to get on with Pilot. It's the old "Catch 22" for most places.
