If that causes you to go under you're the definition of a cheap rate cutter that deserves to go under
Edit: you shouldn't have to rely on the 15 day avg in order to stay afloat. If you do then you really have no business doing this, it's just contributing to lower rates.
I will say the 15 day avg is a good starting off point if your in an unfamiliar area but most owner ops stick to the same few lanes most of the time. You already know, at least should know what the avg is on the high and the lower end.
And lastly stop blaming the ####ing brokers. YOU CHOSE to use a broker instead of trying to find your own direct customers. If you have to rely on the 15 day avg your not doing your due diligence in the 1st place.
What do you o/o's make of this?

So many truckers undercut each other all the time and it needs to stop. We're in inflationary times! You should be demanding more on each load. Instead, many truckers are operating on margins from years ago. Please, fellow truckers, demand more!
It's not just US inflation either, China is also inflating! This is a double whammy for US consumers.
Do not let these brokers take advantage of you. If you feel the price is too #### low... then that's your answer!
That goes for company drivers too. Demand more or you'll be poor! -
When I switched from heavy haul to reefer a year ago I was all about the 15 day trend.
Now I don't care what the going rate is. My truck stays home if it's not $3 a mile in slow areas, and $5 a mile going into slow areas. Maintenance and fuel costs are stupid right now. Not working for free.Natty Bro Thanks this.
