Ok, so I understand how this works now. It seems like these insurance companies don't want to even give new straight truck drivers a chance. I think it's ridiculous but whatever. I went to a place today that had AUTOMATIC straight trucks. I'm sorry but if you have your CDL-B and no experience you shouldn't have a problem driving an AUTOMATIC STRAIGHT TRUCK.

Anyways instead of complaining about this I am going to try to find a solution. I got my license and I want to make use of it. I don't want to take a non driving job just to be in the same situation that I am in right now. How in the world can I get this all mighty 1 year experience that I need if nobody will hire me?? Does anybody here know of any places that will hire with no experience?? If I had my A I would just go OTR. I can't do that in my position. What does somebody in my position that just got their B license do?? I'm thinking maybe tow truck for 6months to a year?? I'll do whatever it takes, apply to where ever I have to apply to. As long as I am building this all mighty experience that I need to land more jobs. Thank you all in advance for your help!

Go drive a school bus, no experience necessary. I've seen some dump companies train but they are few and far between.

Thanks man. I just applied to school bus. I think that's what I am going to do.

Can you ellaborate on the whole dump truck thing?? I'm confused. I would think that dump trucks would want/need more experience because you can gross a lot of weight and it just seems like it would warrant more experience. Yet, I keep hearing about dump truck companies that hire no experience. Any particular type of dump truck work should I look for??

I live in CT and everything's slow with dump trucks right now. Only thing going is Salt but even that is slow.

I was in the EXACT SAME boat when I got out of school(I have a class A also). I just got lucky finding a "B" job that pays well. I'm looking to find a "A" job after I get a year experience(10 months now), but don't give up!!!

Well I have a B license. I hope I can find something. This is getting ridiculous.

Does anybody know what home heating oil delivery drivers get paid per hour??

Also, krispb, do you mind saying what it is you are doing and what you are getting paid?? You can pm me if you don't want to say it here. Sorry if this is too personal I completley understand if you don't want to answer.

Yes hazmat and tanker endorsements I got IMMEDIATELY after I got my license. I figured that roll off they would DEFINETLEY want experience but I honesty wouldn't know. I can only assume. So you can get on working roll off with no experience?? What do you mean by packer job?? Thank you Rick

Davect, sure I mostly deliver textiles around MA, CT AND RI. I make $15.00 ( I don't have to work very hard:+)) and get any where from 6 to 12 hours of OT a week. I almost never take home (after taxes) less than $600.00.

my last employer did a lot of dump truck work. You get the class-b, he'll train you. Last fall i got my Class A permit with the intent of getting the class-A license. He had me in a dump truck a few times with licensed drivers. Once I was driving with a new driver. I actually learned more driving with him because we were both new to it. He just got his license and had about as much experience as I did. But yes, driving dump is extremely simple compared to a combination. Some insurance companies are more anal about new drivers. But it could also be the company itself. Have they had problems with new drivers in the past? have they had problems with the experienced drivers?

Packers are the front or rear load garbage truck that have a hydraulic cylinder to compact the trash then push the load out at the landfill .
A lot of cities are using side loaders that pick up trash toes and eliminate the need for laborers .
