Hey guys just thought I'd share my latest carrier employment choices.
So far I have been contacted by Stevens, Roehl. and Millis for possible
training and employment. I have a packing list and a couple of sign off
forms sent to me by Stevens. So many choices and a lot of research.
I am leaning more towards Millis because of the school thats located in
my area and also because they run through Georgia frequently. Makes
getting home when time achievable. Roehl isn't a bad choice, but they
are located farther out. The few things thats keeping me from deciding
on Stevens is the cost. They want to finance everthing for you it seems.
That and the almost over $7K cost of training and 30 month payback
period. Also you can't drive the trucks to your residence I read somewhere
here. Overall still not a bad company to start with. I am still waiting on
a response from FFE and Crete. I may just call them up personally and
check my status. I hope miles pick up for everybody this your and wish
    me luck.

No brainer... go with Millis. Stevens is out of Texas and from what I've heard you never get home. Millis hauls a lot of beer so there will always be a demand. Check around...you won't hear a lot of bad about Millis. Good luck.

Roehl has a yard in Atlanta. School is in Wisconsin. Crete is good, no school. Millis is good.

Check and see if you can get into a local school and get the WIA to pay for it.

Millis won't hire a newbie with a CDL unless you do their school.

Crete doesn't hire out of all of the schools. Check with them which ones are OK.

Thanks for the replys. I didn't know Roehl had a yard out in Georgia.
If they offered schooling out here I most certainly would apply.
I'm in contact with Millis now. Just got to fax some papers to them.
And I hope the Cartersville school is opening back up as its right in my
    backroom.

Roehl doesn't have a school down South. Go to a local school and then you have options on who you drive for. You won't owe anyone if you qualify for a WIA grant.

They will pay for your license fee, DOT physical, drug test etc. That is if you get registered with them ahead of registering for school.

Some companies want you indebted to them. They know with 3 months experience you can can tell them to buzz off if they are treating you like crap.

IMO I think Stevens may be like that. They really didn't want to talk to me unless I went to their school.
