The block needs to be drilled for the piston cooling nozzles already.

I have seen more headache and heartburn caused from just wanting to upgrade to a better or stronger design while I’m in there thinking. My thoughts are unless you have the experience and a proven build sheet go back like it is. It’s obviously not a bad design or it wouldn’t have the miles run time that it has. Building a motor isn’t hard but it’s not exactly something you just do. Not something internet advice or a phone call can get you through. I have seen inexperienced people do it and it worked out. But that’s rare, most times that cost way more before it’s over. Finding the right guy isn’t easy either so do plenty of homework

I just made the second and final wire transfer on my new 12.7 on Friday. I had to add jakes since mine doesn’t have them. New ECM. Two piece valve cover. Extra fee for a dissimilar core exchange. They will paint any color. Their FB page has lots of pictures. They couldn’t install due to short on mechanics so I’m having it shipped to a local shop.

Sounded like acquiring your new 12.7 was more entailed than you figured. Are you doing an out of frame and what company and cost?

Not at all. It was easy as can be. Im swapping engines. Send me a new one to drop in and Send my old back. Local shop doing install. The rebuilder is the link I listed. I won’t quote prices as I started this two months ago and Detroit had a price increase recently. I also had add ons you may not want or need. The engine is complete except starter and alternator and ac compressor. I am switching over from v belt to serpentine. Would replace all these components regardless as I won’t put a used anything on my brand new engine.

Installation prices may vary. Every shop I called said $5000 plus parts. So It depends what extra you have done. I’m going full bore due to age and neglect of my current truck. I am ordering most of the extras myself.

Oh. I meant added as in price. I don’t have to physically add that stuff lol.

Thanks for the info Joey, I will check them out. So to have the shop take the old out and put the new in - about $5,000?
