I LOVE hearing a refer running. It helps drown out all the other noise. :biggrin_25514:

Gas America, Exit 115 I70 in In. Best food on the road between Springfield, MO and NYC! Small lot and the restaurant closes at 10pm but you can not beat the quality and quantity of the food and the wait staff is fantastic. Prices will blow you away for the amount you get! If you are not hungry stay away as you will be wasting food!

I always like stopping at the Triple T truckstop in Tuscon, AZ. Nothing fancy, but good place to park and good food. Little America in Wyoming was usually a good place too.

i have to admit i usually run dry van, but all the reefers i pulled, i could hear if they were running or not even if i was driving down the highway doing 65mph. I also have an apu and can definitely hear any reefer over that. The funny part is a while back i pulled a reefer that was set to almost the same temperature as outside...it started every couple hours for 10 minutes. I had my apu running non stop. People parked next to me because they thought my reefer was really quiet, since it was really the APU...hahahahhaaha....

I don't mind the noise from a reefer, but to say you shouldnt hear it is just not true. But when i pull a reefer i make sure to not park next to people unless they are other reefers or i have no other choice.

I had heard about Whites food, went in one evening to try it and the cigarette smoke hung so thick I got sick, went right back out the door, wont ever stop there again. I hate it when people have to suffer for the sake of a few that need to smoke any and every where. I am so glad the Lee HI has gone smoke free,..they are at the 195 on I 81, great food and great service and NO years off your life for walking in the door.

I smoke cigars but I never smoke inside. I would not smoke inside a truck in fact had to have a trainer that was non-smoker. I dont like smoke that is trapped inside ao any place for that matter. Even when I smoked cigarettes many years ago I would not smoke in my car with the windows up. Outside working is fine.

I take issue with this thread.
By the time you dont park at any of the "unsafe" truckstops, you have none left.

I usually visit the TA in Gary, IN multiple times a week. Sometimes i end up screwing around in chicago all day, and i mightve had 3/4 of a tank when i came into the "no truckstop zone", i might have to drive 400 miles and then get dispatched to pick up a load way west of chicago, and by the time i get to gary im on empty! And since except for the fuel desk, i usually get alright service, i often park and go eat a meal since i probably didnt eat anything when i was in chicago all day. NEVER had a problem there, and ive even parked overnight several times.

Crime happens. In places. People who become victims are often people who went way out of their way to not be victims. It happens. This is why i never, ever step out the door of that truck without a cell phone. Also, my phone has a nifty new feature that it can access *any* cellular network for 911 calls, even if i cant roam on it for a normal call. None of my old phones could do that...

NASTY: Salt Lake City, Utah SAPP BROS, on California St.(right off of I-215, Just South of I-80). Truly a pigpen. Pregnant Ex-Mormon women begging for food or to marry a Trucker. Enclosed with a fence that is hard to turn around when full(which where the "pigpen" term comes from).
