Preventable or not faulty brakes on a Semi tractor is serious business.

If you read the threads there are alot of drivers looking for work. Here's the rub this business is currently being dismantled by the mega carriers and unless you have thousands of dollars to pay for training, living expenses and occassionly fuel, with a squeaky clean driving record and are willing to work for 1970's wages there just isn't any work in OTR right now.

    WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!

The AP didn't have time to build up so he started to back up? Anyone with any experience want to tell me whats wrong with this statement? Or do you want me to tell you?

Just how freaking OLD was this truck and trailer?

And without a driver? That I can NOT figure out!

OOOHHH OOHHH ME ME ME Pick me!

If the air press had not built up, the brakes would not have released and said incident would not have taken place. ???

As for the "he started to back up/before we knew it,it had rolled" part of the question.........I aint got a clue

Well if you call DAC you can refute what was put on there, and like a credit it report if they don't answer back it will be taken off. I know that for a fact cause I had that I had been fired for failure to comply with company policy(which ment I failed a drug test) I called Dac and told them my side and it was taken off. I haven't had a problem getting hired since then.

I don't think SRT has ANY vehicles with "spring brakes". ALL tractors WITHOUT air lock up. Methinks the dear old "hubby" in this scenario above FORGOT to set his brakes....Another side of the story perhaps ? A "driver" too embarrassed to tell his spouse the real story ? Another real "pro"....NO air, they LOCK, pretty simple.....Their equipment isn't that old...Also, as anyone that has been driving for more than 2 days knows, a PRE-TRIP inspection ("hubby" does know what that is doesn't he ???) includes making sure your air reaches the proper level, quieting your low air warning alarm...(You know, that LOUD annoying thing that basically says "DON'T DRIVE QUITE YET) and checking for air leaks.....Jesus, they just crank them out nowadays.....

And I say, Thank God for that...Just be grateful "hubby" didn't run that puppy into a bus full of children....Perhaps he should consider another (ANYTHING but trucking) line of work...DAC was made for people like "hubby"....

All Tractors will have at least 1 axle with spring brakes.
I believe that is law. Now the trl. does'nt require spring brakes.

That reasoning is if no air the brakes will set.

Like another poster stated maybe he forgot to set the brakes when he got home and then at the right moment this was just enough movement to cause the trk . to roll..

He had a roll away. His fault plain and simple seeing how the wife said he had stated there was braking issues prior.
They have chock blocks to use if you are no sure of the brakes holding.
You can also use a big block of wood, tire rim big rocks etc. There was no reason for the roll away, plain and simple...

I glad I'm not the only one who thinks this story sounds a little fishy.
A: if the air had not built up enough then the breaks would not have released so he could back up.
B: If truck was rolling without the driver then the driver was/is an idiot and didn't set his parking brake.
