It is a reminder of how big and heavy our trucks are and we need to always stay alert and take caution.
I am going to make sure to be very aware of all that I am doing today, even the simple things, like getting in and out of my rig.
Take care everyone... Be safe. -
Sad, it happens just that quick !!
Freight falls when doors are opened, freight rolls off side of flatbeds, drivers get backed over, ran over, crushed between trailers, ...................
Thousands of ways to be hurt or killed everyday out there.......BE CAREFUL !!!sgtsleddogg319 Thanks this. -
i can see how this happened, as it is not possible to reach the ticket while wearing your seat belt unlike while in a car, due to the mirrors on a conventional cab truck hitting the wall if you got close enough to actually reach the ticket dispenser, especially in a narrow truck like a Pete or KW.if the driver had set his brakes and then reached out for the toll ticket,he would still be OK,,but who does this with the "hurry up and get outa my way" mentality of the truck driver(s) behind him that would berate him for miles on the CB,had he actually acted in his own best safety interests,,,,I know this firsthand as i've heard drivers hollering at me on the radio for doing exactly that--"hey dumb###,hurry up and take your ticket,i've gotta go"

I had this problem at the indiana toll gate. There's two ticket dispensers, one high for trucks and one low for cars. You can reach the high one, but when I pulled up there was no ticket there and it would not dispense one no matter how much I hit the button. Since traffic was backing up, I had to open my door to reach the lower one. Then of course it thought I was a car and lowered the gate onto the forklifts I was hauling as I went through. No more gate. Indiana needs to fix their junk ticket dispensers.
