Well actually a company can have their own list of meds that they do not allow.. Take a buddy of mine who works for Steven's Transport.. He's always telling me that company won't allow him to have even mouth wash, cough syrup, nyquill <sp, & "contact" in the truck.. I don't know how true it is as I am receiving this second hand.. He has no reason to lie to me.

wow thanks for the support.... FYI been threw Kingman several times!!! If I felt I was a danger to the road behind the wheel, I wouldn't drive. I've never been in a wreck, no tickets. Have busted my butt in life to purchase at least 50 vehicles, house, toys, etc. If you take them like they are perscribed there isn't an issue. I have learned with most of you, pull the trigger ask questions later.

actually I thought about it, and it seems that as much as I try to be a productive member of society I am outcast because of misfortunes of life. Maybe i'll call that bender and bender for social security benefits and help be part of the cespool of america. Sounds like an easier way of life. 1600sqft house, 08 f250, 06 Yukon denali, toys and the fact I will be able to enjoy them now. Fantastic idea thank you.

I've taken both and would never get behind the wheel of anything. Vicodin is mild compared to MS Contin. MS Contin IS morphine sulfate and is listed as a schedule 2 narcotic. I'll bet you do not have any refills on that one. You're going to have problems no matter where you go while taking opiates. If I were you I'd tapper down and get off of the opiates and seek another drug that doesn't have the problems. I'd also make sure that the doctor that prescribes the meds is fully qualified as knowing all the FMCSA requirements.

I get 4 10mg vicodin aday and 3 15mg MS Contin. Its pain management meaning I get them refilled every month. Just because you feel stoned on them doesn't mean everybody feels stoned on them. I have taken them in front of the manager and sat in his office and had conversations with him to prove my point. You knokw if I could find a doctor to give me a new knee, I'd gladly get off the meds but untill then I want to live my life with minimal pain.

I'm sorry but that sentence alone, says you should not be driving a commercial motor vehicle or any vehicle for that matter. From the sounds of it, your looking for a excuse and not looking at it as a safety factor. Safety should be your number one priority, not just for yourself but the other vehicles around you. Please stay out of Texas if you do plan on driving with your meds.

    Thanks,
    RT

That comment was directed toward gashauler. Ask you doctor next time you go in, he/she will tell you that medications affect everyone differently. I'm not looking for a reason to disreguard safety. Safety is number one in my book, that why I asked the question. You are all judgeing with out the facts. I garuntee if I didn't think I could drive I wouldn't.

I served in the military so you could have that choice. But that choice means you will not drive a truck. Driving a car has nothing to do with driving a truck. Apples and oranges. In this industry they have regulations that state that if you take drug x you will not drive. Period.
