Bought me a 1980 GMC General last month/year/whatever to fix up and take to shows/haul my other trucks to shows.Well, thursday it shows up hopefully.Got a hotshot guy cut me a HELL of a deal.530 miles 650 bucks. My normal hot shot rigger was broke down and he would have charged me about $900.But this guy needed a haul back. Can't wait.I have played with Military heavy iron as a hobby but this will be my first civilian heavy truck. What I know about the truck(was bought off CL with only pictures and a 3rd party from the ATHS to verify it) is,Freshly overhauled 6V92T fuel squeezer,9 or 10 speed,Aluminum frame,Fixed 5th wheel, short nose, runs great with no smoke,Daytons all around with old new bias tires. The truck was an old Amoco Tanker Yanker from the Refinary up in St Louis,Mo.

1989 Pete, Baack and 25(2)+2 Thank this.

Glad to see you got a decent rate to haul it and glad to see you appreciate the rate it takes to get a reliable hauler . Some people would expect to get it hauled for about $.80 a mile There was a guy posted a load on the hotshot site once that had a pickup he wanted to do a hotshotter a favor and pay him $.50 a mile to fill empty space on his trailer . That started a pretty lively thread . I don't know if he ever got it hauled .
I know some good haulers at that forum but quit recommending people from other forums that wanted loads hauled . The customer would go to other forums saying the hauler was trying to rip him off and the hauler would complain the shipper wanted him to run at a loss .

I've also heard stories about hotshotters that run too cheap and hold the freight hostage demanding more money for fuel so they can deliver the freight.

I've heard a lot of different bad stories off of the uship site.

When you get the truck home post up some pics.

I love the big iron pics, big iron is cool. If you have time post some of your other collectible toys.

Congrats on the new toy, and like everyone else said let's see some pics when you get it. I would love to find a nice old general to play around with.

My M543A2 Multifuel powered 5 ton wrecker.Needs some major TLC..200HP and 36000lbs...yea,it is a rocket!well, will be when I get it running.

My first M35A2 the Martyr Machine.Bought November 2001.

My daily driver.2006 Ranger STX all stock. named it Cousteau after the personal shuttle craft of Picard on Startrek. Not a trekie.PO named another truck after the show so I kept the theme.

The Enterprise. The truck mentioned above.PO was a trek fan and named it.I couldn't change the name being it hold star notoriety in another group I belong to.

My free Postal jeep.1977 DJ5.Blown engine.Block is broken clean in half.Only thing holding it together is the head and oil pan.

My 2nd M35A2 I bought in 2007.Named the Messiah cause it saved us and wouldn't let us down on the trip home after another truck started overheating we were bring back from Little Rock.

My M52 5 ton tractor.it needs just a little less work than the M543A2.Powered by a R6602 gasser.

My lil Southern Railway M19 track speeder. My other hobby is railroading.

    Lastly,the 2nd vehicle I ever owned and still own it.White Lightning.1994 F350 with 7.3L IDI factory turbo.

F350 idi turbo best truck ever made.

On the ranger: The supercharger off the V6 thunder birds 90's models fit nice if it has the 4.0. :)
