Hello thinking about getting a CDL here in Florida. I am not looking to do out of state driving. Are their options for a 9 to 5 work week local home everyday, and are their companys to pay for my schooling, I heard that truckers are in high demand right now. Thanks for any advice.
(Florida)Thinking about getting a CDL can I get a local home everyday route?

I have a buddy that lives in the Miami area. He drives a food service trailer. I think it is US foods (not sure). He delivers from Miami down to the Keys everyday. Daycab, 48' reefer, home every day. Long hours (more like 5-5). Makes about 95k.
Edit: I just checked, he drives for Premier Produce out of Ft Lauderdale.

Chinatown Thanks this. -
Not many 9 to 5 trucking jobs out there. Most drivers work long hours.

If you want 9-5 don't do trucking. That said. There are local gigs.
@Chinatown -
So you want a local job right out of the gate as a noobie in the worst market there is for a driver, Florida.
Good luck..firemedic2816 and Western flyer Thank this. -
Where are you in Florida?
~
The state will pay for cdl school, free to you.
Florida WIOA Program is for people that are unemployed or under-employed.

As others posted, food service trucking pays the best and can be home every day. -
