If he had the gauge he could have seen it was getting hot while being empty. That would have lightened his foot up pretty good.

When the pyro gets too high you gotta drop a gear and get some more air moving through the engine

Nah, all the scoring was just from failed rings. Definitely not dusted. It sucks, but I wouldn't call it heartbreaking.

It was old, and pushed WAY past it's limits.

I heard you’re actually installing this 2 stroke in your quad.

Well, I got screwed on parts like folks with new trucks. No parts available for 6-8 weeks, so I called Detroit to check on the status of the engine they're building me, and the 4-6 week estimate I was given has now turned into indefinite. While they said they had all parts 5 weeks ago, they no longer have pistons.

So, I drove the old yard truck to the shop yesterday for a donor. It's no longer in drivable fashion, but i'm moving forward.

Same here. I rushed to pay for my engine. Got an email today that said Detroit is behind shipping rebuild kits and they don’t provide information on availability. NONE of this was discussed at any point the past two months. Very disappointed as my current engine is not in good shape.

Remember when all the salvage/junkyards would advertise on Truck Paper all the used Detroit/Cummins/Caterpillar reman/donor engines up the wazoo? Looks like that surplus supply has dried up!
