We are right on the Eastern edge, the border, the rim, the cusp of the NMDOT designed, constructed, and approved DEATH ZONE.

Between MM 40 and 70 there's the smashed guard rails, cable barriers, carcasses, and an ### load of paint marks from what appears to be about eight separate HUMDINGERS.

And if you peel the bark off, I'll wager however much you like, all the singles and at least one vehicle ( probably the one that initiated it ) in the multis all have one thing in common.

We are headed for one of the most tundrasized spots there is in the tundra.

 

I will consult The OM. It's tundra near I-35. So we make the big hook up US54.

The OM doesn't drive that fast, so that's typically the way we go if we wind up in that area or further east.
