I just learned that a VERY good friend has died overnight. This man served two combat tours in Vietnam and was retired from a major mega as director of safety. I am planning to send flowers and have already called his beautiful bride and the mother of his three beautiful children and expressed my sadness over this loss. Folks, this man was a fantastic person who even if he had to fire a driver, would invite him in and discuss the situation over coffee. I never heard of him talking down to a driver. He taught as he corrected. I learned 20 years ago to lean on his guidance if I encountered a problem. The trucking world has lost another good egg! I can only say this-----

Keri is making us some breakfast. It looks like she is making some toast, bacon, and what looks like a fried egg for her. I am getting an omelet made with fake eggs (yuck). I walked into the kitchen long enough to see sliced green peppers and what looks chicken. I am also getting some toast and sliced tomatoes. I'm sipping decaf coffee (yuck)! Just for the record! I don't think it's right for her to eat bacon in front of me!

Chicken omelet with green peppers and sliced tomato and toast on the side sounds pretty good to me.

We are woke. We over slept a little cause we were woke, couldn't sleep, fell back asleep, then The OM quickly killed the alarm when it went off.

Looks like it’s a balmy 5 above this morning — could be worse

12 on the Eastern edge of the Death Zone.

Clear though. Wind didn't blow my hat off when I went for coffee so we'll see.

It was grilled chicken fajitas. Yes, it was good. Years ago back when she was in her late teens before going through the American Airlines hiring process. Keri worked as a line cook at a place near her home in Maryland. According to her, the owner taught her how to cook. Another thing about that place was during the almost 14 months she was going through this process they allowed her to work knowing she would be leaving. Good people. In a few minutes after she gets the kitchen cleaned up, we are going for a walk. I also need to go by the VA hospital for lab work. I have an Appt there next week to see my heart doc!
