Canada went to an Enhanced license. Only thing that sucks is when you renew in Alberta they send the information to Ontario and make it there and send it to you. If I’m not mistaken I think they make them all in Ontario.

 

You only need to carry those documents in addition to your CDL if your state is not already issuing a REAL ID driver's license. If your DL has a yellow star in the corner it serves as positive proof of your ID for almost everything except crossing international borders. You have to show the above documents to get your REAL ID. You don't have to carry those documents in addition to your REAL ID. Back in the day VA DL was just a green piece of cardboard without a picture. It wasn't valid as proof of age for alcohol purchase in FL unless you showed another govt issued photo ID along with the VA DL.

Texas has been requiring a birth certificate and those other same documents on DL renewal for a little while now due to real ID.

 

I don't see the issue. I've had mine for years now. Granted I do fly for vacations so I had to have it.
I deleted what else I wrote to keep this going and not get pulled. It's not that hard to bring the paperwork you need to the DMV to get the star on your DL. If you don't want to then that's up to you. It doesn't matter to me.

 

Oh boy, better get in on this one before cancellation ensues. If this is what I think it's about, having the "star" on your license? Well, gather 'round, I'll tell you a tale,, when I moved from Wisconsin to Colorado in Dec. 2017, when I went to get my Colorado license, I almost didn't get it. I couldn't satisfy this guy, I said, "WHAT DO WANT FROM ME?" Birth cert., HS diploma, PARENTS birth AND death cert's, I had to register to vote, STILL, they wouldn't do it. Finally, I forget what did it, but it went through. I suppose someone had to confirm all that info. I was told you won't get on a plane without the "star",,,okay, now you can cancel it, it( the govt) slowly ebbs away at us, until one day, like now, we say, how did this ever happen in the good ol' USA,,,

 

we live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. a few years ago the wife went to renew her dr. license , they asked her if she wanted the real license she said sure . they wanted to see her ss. card she gave it to them they wouldn't accept it because it was lamented an she would have to get a different one, or bring in her birth cert. which she didn't have. so she made a app. at the ss. office she went in there they had to see a pic id. she gave them her driver lic. they wouldn't accept it because it had expired by 1 day and she would have to renew it before they could give her a new card and would not accept her ccl. license which looks like her driver lic. and it had not expired. boy she was pissed off. so she went and renewed her license with out the real id. and the what reallyyyyy pisssssed her off a week latter a friend went in and renewed her driver license and got the real id and they accepted her lamented ss. card.
