I found out some more info.

    Boydstun model 9178-s
    empty weight = 19,900 lb
GVWR = 48K lbs (axles are 20K lb each)

From that model number does anyone know the length of the trailer?

Also approximately when empty how much of the trailer's weight gets transfered to the 5th wheel?

It's a car hauler,..It's made to haul cars,..The only way to know is to take it to a scale,....

Just be mindful of low bridges, tree limbs, fuel islands, etc....

Never seen a car hauler able to duck....

Have seen quite a few convertible vans & pickup trucks though....

Had a few drivers swear they didn't know where it had happened....

Also had a driver lower his rear upper rack down on top of a bright red cobalt, crushing the roof, because he "forgot it was there"....

    Bogey Thanks this.

I am always well aware of my surroundings and what my height is I am not the type of driver you see you on Wrecked who goes under a 11ft overpass when your 13ft :biggrin_2554:

Chances are you'll end up running closer to 14'2" more that you would like to think,......

You'll learn where you can get away with it,.......

Didn't mean any offense or want to suggest you might not pay attention.

As walleye said "Long, Tall and Heavy is the carhaul way.......... "

I've seen the Tall get more drivers in trouble than the Long & Heavy put together.

Oh I didn't take any offense at all.

yeah I can see being tall getting someone in more trouble then heavy or long.

I have heard some stories about cars being chopped down in height.

You don't have to load tall,....And the truck you are looking at will do many things and be legal,...

However sooner or latter you'll have a chance to stuff an extra car on and make a little more if your a bit tall,.....Just got to know your route,...

well that j@ck@$$ sold the truck to someone else and didn't even tell me someone else was interested in it. I had been talking to the idiot for over a week and took him until yesterday to answer my questions which weren't rocket science questions.

anyways that really sucks and so now i am looking at a freightliner delavan setup

I have never seen a setup like this, the head rack is sticking way out past the rear of the truck.

Is this head rack legal with it sticking out past the tractor's frame in the rear?

Do states other than CA have any different rules for having a spread axle trailer?

I know CA requires that trailers with spreads cant be longer than 48ft but have checked other state guidelines and haven't found anything pertaining to spreads.

The states I travel are NV,UT, CO, OR,WA ID, MT, WY,NM and TX
