Delivered to Clare, MI this morning. They gave me a pre-load yesterday, so as soon as I finished my delivery in Clare, I hit the road for Cedar Springs.
And once I got there, I discovered that I'd been switched off that load and put on a new load that I should've been picking up in Fostoria, OH. Nobody bothered to tell me.
Imagine my surprise.
They added the Cedar Springs location as a route point for the trip, so I got paid for those miles. And the place in Fostoria is FCFS. Delivery is a drop at a WalMart DC, so there's a 24-hour delivery window. So, all-in-all, no harm, no foul.
Currently sitting here in the dock watching my hood mirrors freeze up with a nice coating of ice.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and jarhead0311 Thank this. -

Parked (for the moment) at that Liberty gas station with truck parking right at the entrance to the Mt. Crawford WalMart DC.
There are numerous signs indicating that you can't park here for more than one hour. Anybody know how serious they are about that? Nothing about towing enforced, and I kinda suspect it's more "don't park your truck here for the weekend while you go home" kind of thing. But I'd hate to find out I'm wrong by waking up to a boot or a barnacle. -

Note to new drivers, during the winter months, if traveling out west, please look at a weather app and trip plan accordingly.
My load I’m under that I left the Richmond yard has 2 stops, 2 coolers, 1 pallet and a total of 2900 pounds going to Spokane Wa then Prineville Or. I knew about the snow storm that was going to be a 3 day event across the whole state of Montana Thursday evening so I decided to run across 80 and up 84 to Hermiston Or then up 395 to 90 and come in the back way to Spokane. My plan worked perfectly. As I crossed into Wyoming, they lowered the high and light closure to just strong winds. I’ll be ahead of the storm that’s forecast for tonight and tomorrow. The extra 168 miles was added on this trip.
My point for this? When I woke up at 0400 to get ready to leave, I had a QC message to call the office. When I called, they told me they had a new driver up in Box Elder SD at the Loves in a panic because she was in snow. They wanted me to swap her out because she has a Boars Head load on going to Fife Washington to meet another carrier to bring it up to Alaska. My 2 drops are LTL and can arrive in the spring if need be, hers needs to be there Tuesday.
I got a little upset because here I planned accordingly, and now they wanted me to go swap her 400 miles due north. I told dispatch that if they want me to swap, she needs to come to me. Apparently she refused. I told dispatch that I’m leaving, with the load I have, and that they can deal with her.
I’m sitting on Elk Mtn taking my 30 and eating a sammich. I’ll be ending my day at the Ranch Hand in Montpellier Idaho later. Meanwhile, my thought about the swap issue, you get what you pay for.
Here’s my route I took to go around the 3 day heavy snow event across Montana.Lonesome, Grouch, MidWest_MacDaddy and 6 others Thank this. -
