well i wont judge you, because you LTL guys go to places most truck drivers could never even get into bobtail . #### is bound to happen... as for the accident it depends on what your company is going to report. i would not call this an accident at all. just looks to be an honest mistake and no damage happened it sounds like .. maybe a better place to ask is within your safety department within your company they would know more details on what the process is after a situation like this... im sure you did before but its always a good idea, to walk the area you will be backing up so you can see what obstacles may present challeneges. what i do is i take notes of all the things that may be easy to hit and if it takes me 40 times to get out and look then thats what i do . thats the only way to prevent this going forward. good luck to you.
My first accident now what…tapped a cargo van while backing?

Id imagine like most people he’d call his insurance and let them know, but he shouldn’t fill a claim my company is going to pay for it - they don’t want law suits obviously.

Yeah, if the guy is honest. Some of them take the cash, then still file a claim to get some more cash.Badmon Thanks this.

Learn from it and move on, nothing else you can do. We drive 10's of thousands of miles a year, things are bound to happen!

Most carriers are self insured for smaller incidents and accidents. They are only covered by insurance for big money accidents.

King of Prussia Motel 6, there used to be a light post in the center of the truck parking lot. I lost it in my mirror one day when I was maneuvering around it, gently rubbing up against it and the concrete base crumbled like a cookie. Not even a scratch on my trailer. I reported it to my company. It never went on my record. They never replaced it either because I still stay there. The manager told me I wasn't the first one to do it.
Mike2633 Thanks this.
