I was considering applying to a local milk hauler, even though I'm not qualified. Their ad says they pay detention after 90 minutes. I'm not sitting on my ### 90 minutes a day for free, while at work. There's no other info on the add about the pay structure either.
Do 40-50 hour weeks, hourly pay, and home nightly jobs exist?

Where else should I be looking for jobs besides Indeed, Glassdoor, and Craigslist?
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I mean... I don't know that I would be looking at any of those in the first place.
Trucking companies are notoriously short on information prior to getting you in their clutches. And the information they do give you prior to hiring is...well, "marketing."
The companies you want to get hired by are usually sustained by word of mouth, such as on this site. -
Also, see what drives around in your area, dump, trash, containers etc and hit those websites. They may have positions listed there that they don't bother paying to advertise on the classifieds.Switcher Thanks this. -

Yes, Google 'LTL' (less than truckload) or 'City Driver'. They are Monday thru Friday, weekends off, generally 40 to 50 hours a week and home every evening as they are local. Average starting pay is $20 to $27 an hour depending on what part of the country you're in. Starting pay obviously higher with more experience.
Here's a few names to get you started in your search:
- FedEx Freight
- YRC Freight
- XPO
- Old Dominion
- TForce Freight (formerly UPS Freight)
- Estes
- ABF Freight
- R+L Carriers
- SAIA
- Southeastern Freight Lines
- Averitt
Reddaway
mav100, down2marz, Switcher and 1 other person Thank this. -
Local short haul 150 mile radius. I avg about 50hr a week M-F. Leave the yard around 3am most days and home anywhere from 11am (if I'm not picking up) to 2-3pm if I'm picking up a reload
Lots of local jobs like this in the northeast. I see the same trucks day in and day out doing the same as us
