Hey everyone, I know I'm obsessed with APUs but they had us change trucks from an old style TriPac to an Evolution equipped one. Anyway, the stupid air kept shutting off last night and a yellow exclamation point would show up on the controller. So we shut it off and that cleared it, but then the silly thing would shutdown again. It did it several times and then it finally worked without a hitch the rest of the night.does anyone know what the problem might be?

Not sure if this is common to all models with the name "Evolution" attached to them, but, on the ones I've dealt with, there'll be a CECU box (on ours, it's on the back wall, accessible through the left hand sidebox). There may or may not be a USB to mini USB cable there (I imagine some companies would remove them, but they're easy enough to find)... plug that into a laptop, the software will automatically install, and an interface will open up which will allow you to read fault codes and such.

Does your Evolution have a DPF, and if so does it need to do a regen? If you run it too many hours past when it calls for a regen it will shut itself off.

Had the same thing happen to me. Ran by Thermo king and they just hooked it up to a laptop and ran some software updates and that was it. Been running flawlessly in the 8 months since then.

Mine doesn't have a DPF. Anyway I didn't know you could hook up a regular computer to it. Might have to try it sometime.

Correct. At which point you'll be asked for a username and password to proceed from diagnosis to system software updates or being able to service it for repair. I purchased this truck used from Kenworth and the old owners won't pass on the much-needed information for me. That is worthless to them for a truck I now have the title to. Any suggestions other than taking it to Thermo King and having them break into it. For a pretty penny which I don't mind flipping the coin, but no matter how much you make, the more you keep the better.

Did you look to see if it’s icing up?
Mine was doing that but icing up
Took it to one TK dealer and they said it was fixed. Needed Freon
Nope not fixed
Took it to TK in Baton Rouge and they said it was an update which took care of the issue
They said the first shop should have noticed that immediately after plugging their laptop into it
