Driving I10 for the first time from Ontario CA to Gainesville FL. My trucking app say to go I10 to I20 and back to I10. Is this the better route than just staying on I10? Also, what are the East Bound Banning Scales like coming out of CA? Thank!

10 has more hills, constructions and traffic after split in TX, if that matters

You can take one of each going back and forth to see for yourself and decide next time what is better.

I run FL - CA quite often and just run 10 the whole way
Not sure why it’s taking you to 20 and that Dallas traffic area
Houston does too but seems more manageable??

Just remember to take I 12 through Louisiana, unless you want to go through New Orleans and that fiasco.
Why would the app say to go 20 back to I 10??
But that’s why I don’t use apps, gps etc.

I would take I-10 the whole way except as noted take the bypass around New Orleans. As for the East Bound Banning scale I am not real sure as I have not been out there in awhile but I think west bound Banning is the concerning one.

I-10, then 20 so you can go a north to come back south? That's extra miles for no reason. When in doubt, bust out that trusty atlas. That's why I don't even have a GPS.

I live pretty close to Banning. Everytime I go thru EB scale is closed. It is a very small scale and has never been upgraded. Office about the size of an outhouse. Yesterday at 430 pm it was closed.

If you were flying an airplane, the great circle route would be up towards Dallas, but there's just not enough roads in the right place at either end to make it feasible in a truck.

Thanks all! I plan on staying on I10East except where noted In Louisiana. The EB Banning was closed. Not that I really had anything to worry about but the hassle of an inspection just eats time. And I have an older truck in CA
