FHP trooper hospitalized after being struck on I-10 in Okaloosa County
Look how far the box truck "swerved" onto the shoulder. Both vehicles, the FHP & SUV are as far from the travel lanes as they could be as there is a guardrail on the other side of the vehicles. No skid marks? He totaled two vehicles but the box truck has minimal damage? Look way off in the distance you can see how long it took the truck to stop. There are hills in this area of I-10. I'm going to go tomorrow to see if maybe they were just over the crest of a hill and what distance the box truck had a view of the vehicles on the shoulder. Good news, trooper has been released from hospital 3/1.
I took a look at the accident scene while I was out today. There is a small hill a half mile b4 the accident scene but he still had plenty of time to see the red & blue lights on the FHP car & take appropiate action, the other hundreds of vehicles went by w/out a problem. Hopefully on the local news we will hear what charges are pending & maybe hear his excuse. #### steering wheel holder!!

Foreigners are running those trucks. Sleeping across the seats. All sizes of them. They are very reckless in the past few years.

Thats true but the business he drives for is only 45 miles from the accident scene. But that doesnt mean he bothered to get a good nights rest the night b4. "charges are pending".

I figured with the damage it was OTR box truck. They are absolutely crazy anymore.

I'm not sure why it matters whether foreigners or Americans are driving those trucks or any truck for that matter. If you're a regular viewer if "Bonehead Truckers Of The Week," you will see a pretty diverse crop of drivers missing some screws. Regardless of nationality, that's some pretty significant damage there, I'm certainly glad the officer is ok.

11:30 AM, he should not have been sleepy or drowsy. must have been texting, reading his paperwork about his first stop, eating, drinking a beverage, or on the phone.

    i hope he got fired.
