Question, my truck requires about a half gallon every 10,000 miles or so. I’ve got one of those trucks that once the coolant level gets to a certain level the truck just literally shuts down. So I watch it closely. However, I usually just pour some water in there so I’m thinking the actual coolant has been quite diluted overtime.
How much water is too much dilution with the coolant? Any harm in this?
The reason I started doing it that way is when I notified the shop they just told me “add some water”. OK, that’s what I’ve been doing. I’m guessing by now it’s a 30% mixture of coolant and 70% mixture of water. Lol
Coolant loss DD15, goes from max fill line to minimum in a month.

I had this same leak. It only showed up when engine was cold.jsnell Thanks this.
-
Yup that’s where my leak was I found it, cold also. Right now I’m looking for the part number to replace the whole line.
-
The part is updated and made from metal now. All three parts were under 100 at freightliner. You get the metal line, the short soft rubber hose and a cap for the block if you need it as the long metal line has been changed.mitrucker Thanks this. -
Yea I just found the part number for the new coolant line. If anyone needs it A4722004251/003. It looks like it’s between $60-90 depending on where you buy it.
-
Also the new metal line looks to be just one long piece.mitrucker Thanks this.
-
Depending on the year of your truck you might have to cap off the block. Also you have to drain the block so you might want to replace the other line behind the one you can see.
-
It’s 2019. Do mean to cap it off so coolant doesn’t go everywhere?
-
No. You have new style. You need metal tube and you might want to change out the short coolant line from compressor to block. The old style line from t Stat area to compressor had another line on it and went to the block, that connection is no longer needed.
