Dont answer questions arent asked. Technically your a cdl driver that runs a yard truck when they dont have runs. So you were a yard driver that got your cdl. And now you are a truck driver. No point saying anything more if your not asked.

That's good advice. Also say you were a city driver plus yard driver.

Don't stick around if you're wanting to hit the road.
It's worth applying for; then let the company decide if they will hire you. Might be surprised at the job offers. Some may give you some refresher training for a week or two with an experienced OTR driver.

 

If pulling a refer interests you check out magnum Ltd. They were a pretty decent place to work and have a great training program for less experienced drivers. They run through your area often as well so getting home will not be a problem and even have local options in the Chicago area once you gain some experience.

In addition all of their trucks come equipped with a fridge, inverter, and a diesel apu. Which are items I would not consider going on the road without. They really make life better as a driver.

 

Pretty sure this company will hire you since they just started their own cdl training.
