Why are we so concerned with fuel prices?

Prices on everything are going to be whatever they are. If they want the system to work, they’ll have to pay up. A few may drive rates down. I honestly don’t believe a few can make much difference. Any rate decreases are made up artificially. Maybe Brokers trying to create a so called decrease. Right now there’s still a seasonal slowdown. Despite the backlogs. 2-6 weeks, and it’s off to the races. No one should haul for less right now. I simply tell them, I’m not going backwards. If they can move it cheaper, go for it. Goodbye. Plenty of other Loads that need to go. Plenty. Worse case scenario is I run a few less miles. Like @TallJoe said. Can’t outrun fuel prices. All you’ll do is run yourself ragged along with your equipment. Not a good Long term plan.

Saw $4.87, $4.88 at mom and pop gas stations. $4.99 at Racetrack and Speedway. Off US 27 in central Florida this morning.

With how much complaining you do about rates/freight, I'm thinking a professional dispatch service or mentor might be the kick start you've been needing. Maybe even a team mate to show you the ropes...D.Tibbitt, bumper Jack, ProfessionalNoticer and 9 others Thank this. -
That's nearly the equivalent of getting $8000 from Miami, Florida to Chicago.
I might complain but am not the only one recently in that department when i comes to rates on this board.
there's lots of BS on here and you got to be careful.
Saying there's $6+ a mile loads from Albuquerque to Chicago, you know there's some out there reading these posts and will jump on a $150k truck thinking all this money is out here.
I switched back over to flatbed this week.
Not complaining about rates over here, van starting to suck though.Last edited: Mar 18, 2022
