Its a good tool to have. Ours' extends to 17', so we can still get up even if we're at 13' 6". It doesn't take up much room, 3' I think it is when it's compressed. We stored ours on its side at first, and the vibration caused some bad wearing, which causes the locking mechanism to not work quite right. So don't store it on its side.

It does have some flex to it when it's extended out, but it doesn't feel like it's gonna break or anything.

I did learn a new trick today. You can take a 2" strap, wrap the hook end around the tarp, and pull the tarp up onto the load, as long as you can get up there.

 

Is there a certain brand that you recommend? Where do you store it? My ladder is on top of my headache rack in that tray.

 

Nah, I think we got ours at Menards, about $140. Keep it in the side box on the trailer.

 

Do you use bungee rope on your tarps?

 

No, just regular old tarp straps. Us poor folk can't afford that fancy stuff.

Why didn’t you have the loader put the tarps on top ??

 

As soon as I gave him the sign that the last piece was good, he was gone. I didn't even get the chance to ask, never saw him or anyone else from that office again. A little ingenuity and sweat got the job done though.
