@Catmando does have a point at least in one sense. The more you dumb down jobs or even just basic daily functions, the more society as a whole eventually follows.
That’s what scares me. I’m pretty sure I won’t like the end of this road.

Also, have you noticed how lots of new trendy buildings/apartments have dark colors? Especially grey...
They're foreshadowing this dystopia future.OhNoTerry Thanks this. -
THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG, LONG TIME!!!
Because this means that there will be LESS long hood oversized Pete's that make it incredibly hard to back up against. I cannot STAND those long hood Pete's, there is absolutely zero reason for them other than aesthetics (and that's debatable whether the majority of people even find them visually appealing).
With the company I'm at now I'm forced to fuel at Pilot Flying J, and because I like to shower as the very last thing I do before bed then that's where I normally park. And I have to say, that oversized Pete's sticking out like a sore thumb in already tight PFJ lots is an absolute scourge for the rest of us drivers that have to deal with and back around that crap. And it's always those same boomer Super Truckers in those oversized Pete hoods that NEVER back up as far as they possibly can into the parking spot, thus making themselves stick out EVEN MORE than what they already would with their big ugly oversized Pete's.
The long hooded Pete drivers are probably the rudest and most inconsiderate demographic of truck drivers out there when it comes to being courteous as to how they park the truck at the truck stops. And even at shippers and receivers, it's just incredibly annoying to have to back around those big ugly trucks for no good reason as all. There's zero practical use for oversized hoods and there's plenty of ways that those oversized hoods make the job more difficult for every other driver that's forced to operate a CMV in close proximity to them.
One less oversized long nosed Pete on the road is a WIN in my book. I'm being 100% serious with my post, I cannot stand those things. Good riddance to them all is what I say.jamespmack and wore out Thank this. -
And actually as preference aside, it's actually healthier to drive an automatic semi truck than it is to drive a stick shift. The amount of wear and tear you put on your knees from driving a stick shift is significant, while driving an automatic does zero harm to your body. And to all of you who float gears as much as possible (which is probably 99% of people who drive a stick, if we are being honest), you still have to push in the clutch in the very least when you come to a complete stop or sometimes when you miss a float or it's simply not possible to float and you have to double clutch. That amount of wear on your knees adds up and that's why you see so many old timers who only drove stick shifts walking around with limps in their 50's and upwards.
Automatics are the future and I for one could not be any happier about it. -
It's not a 1 size fits all.
This is all sarcasm right?......has to beLast edited: Mar 21, 2022

Try looking from a different perspective. You literally have tunnel vision. Like the perspective of you working on it. Would you rather have half the engine buried or all 6 right in front of you and not half in the house.
If you're broke down in no man's land and 2 trucks are running up on you, 1 aero truck, 1 hood. Which one would be most likely to pull over and see if your good.
There's a difference of people just driving for a paycheck and those that it's a life style to. That's why you don't understand it.
Didn't try and come off as an ### but look at it differentlyDeleteguests, BeHereNow97, Siinman and 4 others Thank this. -
You have people who can't stand anything aero and supposedly would rather quit driving. Then you have people like him who hate hoods.Siinman, bumper Jack, GYPSY65 and 2 others Thank this. -
