100,000 miles first year for a rookie. Reality?

I have'nt read all of your thread sir, but my good freind is in his first year with eagle (an o/o leased to werner) and in 7 month's hes almost at 100,000. They really keep him moving and he's not home much, he also keeps that drivers side door closed.

 

I like this kid.....Polite and respectful....I think he'll go far in life....

 

That was running team . You're not going to get 5,000 miles a week solo . A trainer getting 20,000 miles the first month out with a trainee is not giving adequate training . There's too much of that BS out there . There is no way I would be in the sleeper leaving someone with less than a month's experience behind the wheel .
Newbies are really being used when given trainee pay to do a regular team operation . Does that help you see why bottom feeders find any excuse they can to terminate drivers and bring in more trainees ?
Just checked your other posts . You were "trained " by CRE . That explains it . Just so others see what is going on with CRE . They give a newbie plenty of miles with a trainee . Then they put him with a lease operator a couple of months and they make sure that L/O gets the best loads and plenty of miles . Then when the newbie gets sucked in and signs the lease contract he finds he doesn't get near the miles he expected .
100,000 miles a year ? Not unusual at all for experienced drivers but most newbies leave before getting half that .

 

120 should be the expected miles the first year. And still get some home time. Good luck

 

But don't concentrate on miles . I laugh every time I see those signs on bottom feeder trailers . "Want more miles ? " . No thank you . Work smart , not hard . The newbies mostly go for the low paying OTR jobs where they need all the miles they can get to survive . With more and more wannabes applying for OTR jobs it's probably easier to find a better paying local job .

 

I've only been in this industry 12 years this year. But this is far and away the worst I've EVER seen it.
