Went to the DMV early. Didn't take long to get in. Ready to take the test that I thought would be easy. "Your Class A expires in less than a year. You have to take the Class A test, also. You also need a proof of address." @#$&. Just going to have to repower. The amazing thing is the shipper said they've been doing this "20 years and we've never had an issue". Dispatcher: "We've done hundreds of these loads". Safety: "Don't proceed any further with this load." I'm over this.

thats what you get for thinking for yourself driver, it never works out lol...:biggrin_25523: dont listen to anybody who says " we've been doing this for x amount of years and never had a problem" ... because the thing is, you dont have a problem until you have a problem and their statement tells me they dont have a plan for what happens when they do have a problem... which those are people you dont want to be around or do business with... and if you're anything like me, you will be the first one to have that problem. .... dispatch is always going to say stupid #### to get the load moved... just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on down the road. you did the right thing, thats the important thing to remember

20 years ... yeah. They changed the requirements about 10 years ago.

California requires you take the entire CDL A exam when getting an endorsement.

The exception is when you renew your license. There is a window when you can take the endorsement only.

Most places with totes your in and out quick. I used to load out of North Bergen at GCP and they would slam 13-15 totes on and I'd be gone in 15-20min

EVERYONE needs a tanker endorsement, eventually. Your load certainly needs a tanker endorsement. If you haul a container that holds over 119 gallons or 1,000 pounds of liquid, you need the Tanker endorsement.

Yep.HazMat fines usually include a fine for the company AND a fine for the driver. Some of them can START at more than $1,000 for something small. Some driver fines can be over $10,000.

I hope the shipper is right, not just sneaky. Are there any placards stuck to the totes? They will look like a square balanced on one corner. If they have placards on the totes and those placards are anything other than half covered with black and white stripes (ORMD or non-HazMat) it's HazMat.

If you are doing that tell the company you are parking until someone with an endorsement can take the load. Telling your company you are intentionally going to drive without the endorsement is how the company puts ALL the blame on the driver.
